Frequently Asked Questions
Answers to the questions patients ask most about booking, treatment and surgery.
General questions
How do I book an appointment?
Fill in the booking form on this website, message us on WhatsApp, or call the clinic on 079 456 77 88, and we will confirm the nearest available time.
Where is the clinic?
Abu Nseir, opposite Jordan Islamic Bank, Ibn Al-Nafees Medical Complex, 5th floor, Amman. It is easy to reach from North Amman, Shafa Badran, Sweileh and Jubeiha.
What should I bring to my first visit?
Your ID, insurance card if you have one, any previous X-rays or MRI scans with their reports, and a list of your medications.
Do you accept insurance?
We work with a number of insurers in Jordan. Contact us before your visit so we can confirm your coverage.
Will I definitely need surgery?
No. Most bone and joint problems start with conservative treatment such as medication, physiotherapy and injections; surgery is the last option when other treatments have not worked.
When do I need a knee replacement?
When arthritis is advanced, pain limits walking, sleep and daily life, and conservative treatment has not helped.
How long is recovery after surgery?
It depends on the operation: arthroscopy takes one to a few weeks, ACL reconstruction 6 to 9 months before returning to sport, and joint replacement 6 to 12 weeks for everyday activities.
How long does an artificial joint last?
Most modern joint replacements last 15 to 20 years or more with regular follow-up.
Do you see patients from outside Amman or abroad?
Yes. You can send your scans and reports on WhatsApp beforehand for an initial review and to arrange your visit.
Do I need a referral?
You do not need a referral to book at the clinic, unless your insurer requires one.
Knee Replacement
Learn moreIs knee replacement surgery painful?
Pain after surgery is managed with modern pain-relief protocols and local anaesthetic, and it eases steadily over the first weeks. Most patients find it less than the arthritis pain they lived with for years.
What is the difference between total and partial replacement?
A partial replacement resurfaces only the one worn compartment and usually recovers faster; a total replacement resurfaces the whole joint. The doctor recommends the right option after examination and imaging.
Does insurance cover knee replacement?
Most insurers in Jordan cover the operation depending on your policy. Contact us and we will help you check your coverage.
Hip Replacement
Learn moreWhen can I walk after hip replacement?
Most patients walk with a frame the day after surgery, then move to a crutch and then to walking unaided over the following weeks.
Can I pray and sit on the floor after surgery?
The doctor will explain which movements to avoid in the first weeks. After recovery, many patients return to most of their usual positions. Discuss your needs with the doctor before surgery.
Arthroscopic Surgery
Learn moreIs arthroscopy painful?
It is done under anaesthesia, and pain afterwards is usually mild and controlled with ordinary painkillers.
How long will I stay in hospital?
Most patients go home the same day or the following morning.
Sports Injuries & ACL
Learn moreDoes every ACL tear need surgery?
No. It depends on your age, activity level, whether the knee is unstable and any associated injuries. Some patients do well with rehabilitation alone.
When can I play again after ACL surgery?
Usually after 6 to 9 months, once you pass the strength and stability tests set by your doctor and physiotherapist.
Shoulder Surgery
Learn moreDoes frozen shoulder need surgery?
Rarely. Most patients improve with physiotherapy and injections over a few months; surgery is kept for cases that do not respond.
Why is my shoulder pain worse at night?
This is common with rotator cuff inflammation and tears, because lying on the shoulder compresses it. Night pain that lasts more than a few weeks is worth having assessed.
Fractures & Trauma
Learn moreDoes every fracture need surgery?
No. Many fractures heal in a cast or splint. Surgery is needed when a fracture is displaced, enters the joint or is unstable.
Do plates and screws have to be removed later?
In most cases they can stay in permanently. They are removed only if they cause discomfort, or depending on the fracture and your age.
Back & Neck Pain
Learn moreDoes a herniated disc need surgery?
Usually not. Most disc herniations settle over weeks to months with conservative care; surgery is kept for nerve weakness or pain that does not respond.
When is back pain an emergency?
Sudden leg weakness, numbness around the groin, or loss of bladder or bowel control. Go to the emergency department straight away.
Joint Injections & PRP
Learn moreDo PRP injections work?
They can help early arthritis and some tendon problems, and response varies between patients. The doctor will tell you whether they suit you after an examination.
How often can I have a steroid injection?
Steroids are used carefully with suitable gaps, because repeated injections can harm cartilage and tendons. The doctor will advise a safe number.
Osteoarthritis Care
Learn moreCan knee arthritis be treated without surgery?
Yes, often in the early and moderate stages, through exercise, weight loss, medication and injections. Surgery is considered when pain limits your life despite treatment.
Is walking good for knee arthritis?
Yes. Moderate walking on level ground and strengthening exercises help a lot. During flare-ups, avoid lots of stairs and long periods sitting on the floor.
Osteoporosis
Learn moreDoes osteoporosis have symptoms?
Usually not until a bone breaks, which is why density screening is advised for people at higher risk.
Are calcium and vitamin D enough?
They are the foundation of prevention, but people with osteoporosis usually need bone-strengthening medication prescribed for their case.
Hand, Foot & Ankle
Learn moreDoes hand numbness at night mean carpal tunnel?
It is one of its classic signs, especially in the thumb, index and middle fingers. The doctor confirms it with examination and sometimes nerve studies.
How do I treat morning heel pain?
It is usually plantar fasciitis and improves with stretching and proper footwear, sometimes with an injection.
Pediatric Orthopedics
Learn moreAre my child’s bow legs normal?
Bow legs are common and normal up to about age two, often turning into knock knees until around seven. See a doctor if it is severe, one-sided, or persists beyond these ages.
Does a child with flat feet need special shoes?
Not always. Flexible, painless flat feet are common in children and usually need no treatment. We assess whether any treatment is needed.
